Since 1950, Hill Hardware has been Burton’s local small town hardware store serving the folks in this rural Northeast Ohio community. It still retains the original charm and old-fashioned atmosphere of those days of yore, over 60 years ago now. The wood floors still creak, the aisles are narrow with shelves chock full of 7000+ items, and that old hardware smell still lingers.
2007 brought a ‘changing of the guard,’ so to speak, when Dave Lamppert and his wife Mary Anne became the new owners. The look and feel have remained, but they have increased the inventory every week since, and will continue to do so. And with 25 years of industrial engineering background, Dave possesses a wealth of knowledge and sound advice, along with hands on experience, to share with every customer who walks through the door.
At Hill Hardware you’ll find all the usual hardware, tools, plumbing parts, electrical items, and painting supplies as well as services like key making, pipe threading, and window and screen repair.
But that’s not all. You’ll also find some very out-of-the-ordinary things: American-made Jensen miniature steam engines, carbide cannons, kitchen gadgets, greeting cards, and locally made gift items. You’ll also find a high degree of honesty and genuine customer service that includes getting a customer what they need at a fair price. At Hill Hardware you’ll be treated like a neighbor and a friend.
“I love going to Hill Hardware because I can talk to an engineer about my repair problem. I also know that Dave will be able to help me find whatever I need. If for some reason he doesn’t have it on hand, he can get it in for me right away.”
~Gabe Arnold, Hill Hardware fan for 20+ years
